Fall in love with our roots and the trees they produce! In 2011, etnies launched Buy A Shoe Plant a Tree (BASPAT) when etnies Owner and CEO, Pierre-Andre Senizergues decided to invest in the future by planting a tree in the Costa Rican rainforest for every pair of Jameson 2 Eco shoes sold. The following year, etnies began working with Trees For The Future (TFTF), an

agroforestry non-profit that trains farmers through a 4-year training program called the Forest Garden Approach, which helps farmers plant thousands of trees that restore their soil with the goal of breaking the cycles of climate change and generational poverty, and rebuilding our food systems from the ground up. As a result, the etnies BASPAT program has

now expanded across five continents, with our current phase of planting in Africa. The etnies x TFTF collection features sustainable fabrics and recycled rubbers. Each piece is eco-friendly and vegan with earthy, neutral colorways inspired by the Moringa Tree. Referred to as the “tree of life” due to its nutrient-dense

properties, many Forest Garden farmers grow Moringa trees for the vast benefits it offers them, their families, and their land. Since partnering with Trees For The Future, Etnies has been able to plant over 2 million trees. None of this would have been possiblewithout your support! But why stop there? Help us get to our goal of 3 million!

Each purchase from the etnies x TFTF Collection is so much more than a shoe. Not only does each pair plant a tree it also contributes to the following TFTF initiatives: PROTECTING THE PLANET. The Farmer’s Garden Approach restores degraded land, captures carbon, improves biodiversity and prevents future unsustainable land use practices. ENDING HUNGER. The average forest garden is home to dozens of food crops, producing access to diverse, nutrient-rich meals year-round. ENDING POVERTY. Not only are you supporting farmers’ crops of producing fruits and veggies, but farmers also start businesses selling seeds and seedlings, honey, syrup, soap, timber and more. EMPOWERING WOMEN. Farmer Groups in TFTF’S program are required to be composed of 30%women. Most exceed that benchmark, with many led by or composed entirely of women farmers. What Does Your Shoe Do?
